    $75,000 – $89,000 a year

    Responsible for professional, administrative work, assists with the management and operation of the airport in accordance with legal requirements, rules and regulations governing the use of airport facilities and performs related duties as assigned. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Transportation/Aviation. Duties are performed within the policies established by the City of Denton and the Director of Transportation/Aviation, but considerable independent judgment is required in making managerial level decisions.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    •Develops, coordinates and implements plans and operating procedures related to the routine operation of the airport, its associated tenants and facilities, as well as performs administrative functions as related to the management and operation of the Denton Airport
    •Insures airport compliance with FAA certification criteria, FARS and Advisory Circulars, as well as with all applicable federal, state and local requirements
    •Supervises the day-to-day activities involving the operations of the airport
    •Administers special activities airside and landside
    •Oversight of airport planning and development including capital improvement projects, marketing strategies, budget preparation and development of data for various projects
    •Prepares financial and other specialized reports and presentations as requested
    •Shows airport facilities and equipment to potential new lessees
    •Responsible for tenant compliance with provisions of all contracts and leases
    •Coordinates and supervises airfield maintenance
    •Maintains Airport Operations/Airport Emergency Plan, Storm Water Prevention Plan and Airport Safety/Security Plan
    •Administers document revisions with all interested agencies and performs inspections for compliance
    •Inspects all airport facilities regularly and directs corrective action as needed
    •Acts as security coordinator
    •Issues NOTAMs as required
    •Provides airfield driving and safety training for staff and maintenance personnel
    •Serves as project manager and monitors various projects as assigned by the Director of Aviation
    •Provides public relations tours, investigates public complaints and endeavors to promote community interest, awareness and good will
    •On Call for Airport Emergency Response 24/7
    •Responsible for overseeing Airport administration, airfield operations and capital projects
    •Develops, implements and manages budget and revenue generating systems
    •Coordinates and facilitates lease negotiations with prospective tenants
    •Investigates tenant/customer complaints, analyzes findings and takes action when necessary; directly communicates with the general public to identify service needs
    •Secures and administers grant funds
    •Ensures compliance with EPA, FAA, TxDOT and TCEQ regulations
    •Liaison with federal, state, regional and local agencies
    Additional Duties: •Position is responsible for modeling and promoting organizational values within the work unit or department, and as a representative of the organization in the community
    •Performs other duties as assigned

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    •Masters Degree in Public Administration, Aviation or related business field
    •Four years management experience at a public use airportor related experience
    OR •Accredited Airport Executive and four years of aviation management experience
    OR •Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

    Core Competencies: •Experience managing programs of work for direct report employees and contract service providers in the aviation industry
    •Ability to be proficient in both verbal and written communication
    •Ability to work well with local, state and federal officials, co-workers and customers
    •Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
    •Knowledge of Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Division and FAA regulations and procedures

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    •Must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license within 30 days of hire per state law)
    •Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
    Preferences: •Bilingual in Spanish and English
    •Strong financial background and experience in budget preparation
    •Certified Member with American Association of Airport Executives
    •Grant Administration
    •Private Pilot
