I offer you a guide for the perplexed——
Many of those people who experience disaster or a life-threatening illness find the experience awakens them to the beauty of life.
Then again, many may agree, after-the-fact, that they shouldn’t have waited for disaster to be their teacher and to advise others, those willing to listen, to live and perform to their fullest potential now.
While you cannot avoid difficulties, you can choose how to deal with them.
Just as people look for and find inspirational lessons, so do the businesses down the street and across the globe.
Like the Marines I trained with, the personnel I managed, and the character of business people I chose to associate with, they all felt free to create and none of them were afraid to fail as it simply wasn’t/isn’t an option. Each of the above identifying with their unique selves and displaying their true colors when things got tough.
As challenging as things are right now, when a business motivates it’s workforce to create a sense of ownership and accountability for desired results, the job of getting results gets easier. Yes. Adversity introduces a man to himself especially when short term shut downs are inevitable and painful.
To think that in just a short period of time ago, all I ever thought about was snow removal, snow removal equipment and the wonder of a single snowflake outweighing the wisdom and education of a million meteorologist.
I do miss the snow. I miss looking at it, walking in it, tasting it. I used to love the days when it was so cold everyone else would be tucked inside trying to stay warm. I would be outside walking so I could look across the fields and see miles of snow without a single footprint in it. It would be completely silent—no cars, no birds singing, no doors slamming. Just silence and snow.
I finally woke up from that terrible dream, just as I hope to wake up from this one.
The difficulties of life are supposedly intended to make us better, not bitter. Some may say that’s bullshit.
When it comes to safety and equipment, there is only one right answer when you have to make a difficult decision.
